Did you know a simple childhood toy like a bouncy ball can help keep you injury free?
It’s true, check out our free video series and learn how!
It can be super tempting to just run all the time (the runners high is a real thing), but after so long your body is going to start telling you it needs something more.
Mixing it up with a little yoga, barre or pilates can give you the perfect balance of flexibility, strength, and recovery that you need!
Does it hurt to bend over and tie your shoes or sit for too long? Your legs are probably super tight rubber bands from running.
If your lower back ever starts to ache during a long run, it could be your core muscles shutting off and not helping you with the run.
Run fact: balance training not only helps you not fall on your face, but it also strengthens your feet, which makes running easier.
Okay, yes, we all need to breathe. But during a run the better you can breathe the longer you can go. Yoga is a great breathing practice.
Do you look down at the ground the entire time you run? Does your upper back hurt? Working on your posture muscles can be a game changer.
Endurance running is a mental game. Up your mental focus through a solid yoga practice and let go of self doubt and worries on and off the road.
A calming stretching routine can be just what the body needs after a hard run or race. Counter the demands of running and bounce back faster.
Okay, we can’t say that because you cross-train you’ll never get another injury, but we do know that by adding it into your regular training schedule it’s less likely.
at GXunited Fitness Co.
Hey to all my runner friends out there!
As a former endurance runner (a bum ankle took me out), competitive duathlete, and certified running coach, I know a thing or two about the demands running puts on our bodies.
For far too many years I ignored the cries for help that my body gave me to mix up my training, and ended up with a horrible case of overtraining syndrome. I’m now on a mission to help other runners not get to that same place of yuckiness I ended up, and share the value of yoga, barre, pilates, and functional strength with you all.
This is why it’s so important to me that GXunited Fitness Co. supports the Greensboro running community and offers classes just for you.
